Abstract of all the life threatening injuries likely to be encountered with trauma patient is hemorrhage that could producing hypovolemic shock. The treatment of hypovolemic shock has two basic requirements, hemorrhage control ,and volume replacement. The goal of therapy is to restore tissue perfision and oxygen delivery by correcting the reduced intravascular volume. Usually this is done by rapid infusion of crystalloid or colloid fluids in volumes suitable to replace the volume of blood lost .The choice between colloid and crystalloid solutions continues to generate controversy. The administration of large volumes of intravenous fluids prior to surgical control of bleeding is felt by some to be potentially deleterious since increasing blood pressure and vessel diameter, decreasing blood viscosity, diluting platelets and clotting factors could all increase uncontrolled hemorrhage actually promoting further blood loss. |
