Abstract

Pesticides are applied in crop fields to control different crops pests. In such fields the usage of synthetic pesticides cause environmental pollution. Decreasing tloe quantities of tloe used pesticides may be one of tlie solutions of this problem. This study was designed as to introduce tlie plant extracts which may be effective natural substances against weeds if it is used alone. On the other hand this study was also, designed to compare the potency of the tested herbicides and to determine the joint herbicidal action of combinations of those plant extracts with some well known herbicides, whicli may be a good control compared with the usage of herbicides alone. The phytocidal activity of twelve plant extracts, i.e. bar100 f, Corqizn dioscoridis; pigeon berry, D~d~wzptlal/ r71i eri vnriegatct L.H. Extracts were prepared using two organic solvents of variable polarities i.e. acetone/metlianol (1 : 1). Plain agar technique have been used to evaluate tlie phytocidal properties of three herbicides, Gesaprim; Brominal and Lorox. Plant extracts and tlie Hebrides were tested alone or in combination against four plants, corn, Zen r?~ays L. Hybrid 3 10; wheat Triticum ail gar is var. Salclia 69; soybean, Glycir? i~zctxL . Crawford and barnyard grass, Ecl~inochloa cms-galli L.
