Abstract Haemophilus influenzae is an important human pathogen . Nonencapsulated strains are commonly isolated from purulent secretions of the lower respiratory tract of patients with cystic fibrosis and chronic bronchitis. These have been implicated as the cause of diseases sush as otitis media, sinusitis and conjunctivitis in childern and can cause meningitis, pneumonia and septicemia. These strains also belong to the constant flora of the upper respiratory tract. |
