المستخلص This thesis is entitled: ” Ibn el lillayyCltLldemashqi, his life and poetry”. He YTaS one of the faEl0u$ poets durine the second half of the fifth century of higrah •. He was born in Damascus, year 450 H. and gro~n up in it • He trcvelecl to: Hamah , eastrn Tarabuls , then returned to Damascus year 487 H, where he died year 517 H. Our thesis had bean divided into two parts: the first ~~ includes two chapters, ol~pter one talks about the era of the poet , political,. socicl and cultural features. The.Lbbasid caliphate in BaGhcled in that tine had become very weak, with no authority. This played a role in the dividing of the AU6asid state and enerGency of sInll governorats. This led to bloody wars and conflicts for hold of authority. The society in that time consisted of two main classes: the first class was prosperous vn”ich included, caliphate, rulers, Dinisters etc. The second class was suffering froD poverty and Lusery, this cless represented the majority - Ibn el IChayyat belonged to those. On the other hQnd, there was an excellent literary and scientific revivQl. In chapter two I talked about the poet’s life his name , fmrl.ly , culture, travels and deo.th. Part two consisted of three chapters. In chapter one I studiecl his differeat poetic arts, I proved that the praising WL1S the first in his poetry, because he racd e this art as 0. ’!layto eab his living. / In chapter two I reviewed his poetic language und clicion. I showed that his meaninGs in general forLl were good and clear, o.ndthat his language and dieion were siople, clear and has no strangeness. On the other heme’ , I tallceelo.bout the literu.ry form and the emotion also I studied the poetics in his poems. (B~~r el Taweel) was the dominant of 0.11 and his ~msic, rhythns and rhymes vvere very good in uost of his poetry. In chapter three I exposed the opinions of the old and modern historians in our poet. In the conclusion I stated the results and somL~ry.
