Abstract

This investigation was cal-ried out at El-Shellan Village, Kafi- El- Sheikh Governorate during two successive seasons 199211 993 and 199311 994 to study the effect of different sources of organic inallures aild p1;111t sesidues co~nbi~ietwl ith elemental srllpllilr (wllicli equivalent to the egyps~un requirements) on yield and yield coinponent of thee successive csops i.e. sugar beet, maize and Egyptian clover. Also, to study their el’f’ects oli some chemical properties of the tested soil. A experiment area of 1500 1112 was selected to represent a typical alkali clay soil. A complete randomized block desigl with four replicates was used in this study. The experimental area included 10 treatments represe~itings olphur requirelne~~t(ss ) wlricll amounts to 0.7 todfad. and two levels (1 6.8 & 25.2 tonlfad) of each the organic ~~~~~~~~e used in this study. These organic manures and plant residues al-e: chicken inanore (C.M) sewage sludge (SS), fam~yard manure (FYM), wheat hay (W.H.) and clover hay (C.1-I). Amounts of sulph~rr inixed with organic manures or plant residues were added at one time and inixed with the surface layer before the first crop. All agricultural practices of cultivated crops were cauied out according to the local recommendation of the Ministry of Agriculture. Egypt. Before planting and after harvesting of each crop, soil samples were taken and chemically analyzed, also, yield, yield coniponerit and mineral contents of the thee cultivated crops were recorded.
