The present study was designed to trace the TMJ postirradiation changes through the analysis of the digitized CT, MRI and isotopic bone scanning images using an .image analyzer software. Also, to find out the relation between postirradiation radiographic changes and associated clinical signs and symptoms.
The study was carried out on one hundred patients selected from Clinical Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Department, Mansura University Hospital according to the following criteria before taking the radiotherapy:
I-No previous history of TMJ therapy. 2-Allpatients were free of any TMJ disorders.
3-. The TMJ was included in the primary beam of radiation.
4-Patients were treated from head and neck malignancy and the total radiation dose applied for each case were more than 6000 cGy.
All patients were evaluated clinically and radiographically before and after radiotherapy, (immediately, 6 and 12 months post-radiotherapy).
