Abstract
The goal of this work is to study the role of the US and Color Doppler ultrasound in diagnosis of the inflammatory breast diseases in order to reach proper diagnosis without exposure of the patient to ionizing radiation.
US is the first choice of examination for some particular sitiuations such as pregnant or lactating patients, mammographically dense breasts, in the acute phase of trauma or inflammation, palpable masses in younger females, where mammography is frequently not conclusive because of the increased density of the gland.
US is highly reliable in differentiating cystic from solid breast lesions. It is also a reliable technique in evaluation of palpable and non palpable breast lesions.
