Abstract

Soil invertebrate populations are influenced by soil factors in a species way, therefore the species composition of the soil invertebrate community may indicate certain aspects of habitat quality. The present work aims to record all available oribated mites and Collembola inhabiting different green houses with special reference to: 1- Classification and characteristic features of the recorded oribatid mites and Collembola. 2- Morphological and taxonomical studies of some Egyptian oribatid mites and Collembola. 3- Understanding vertical distribution of the oribatid mite and Collembola fauna in two different green houses, the first received chemical fertilizers and the second received organic fertilizers.Soil samples were taken from two different green houses at Tanta city. The first site was at seperpay region. It was cultivated with various plants (pepper, cucumber, and tomato). The first green house was 60x9x5m (length, width and height respectively), the total area is 540 m2. The fertilization programme with chemical fertilizer was took place once before farming and once every month. The second green house was 30x9x5m (length, width and height, respectively), the total area is 270 m2. It was cultivated with the same plants (pepper, cucumber, and tomato). The manure of cow and birds was used as organic fertilizers. The quantity of fertilizers about 25 Kg in each once.
