Abstract A study is undertaken to investigate the response of some physical and physicochemical properties of soils to different polymer conditioners, behaviour of grown plants being also evaluated. Five experiments are conducted, using three soil conditioners namely, polyacrylamide (PAM), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyvinyl acetate (PVAC). Three soil samples are selected namely: alluvial soil (Tanta); calcareous soil (west Nobaria) and sandy soil (Inshas). The experiments carried out are: 1) Effect of initial moisture content (IMC) and appropriate dilution of PAM and PVAC on soil aggregates. 2) Effect of soil conditioners on soil moisture behaviour. 3) Synthetic soil conditioners and adsorption phenomenon in soil. 4) Synthetic soil conditioners and soil fertility. 5) Synthetic soil conditioners and plant behaviour. |
