Abstract At 1977, an outbreak of Rift valley fever was recorded for the first time in Egypt (Imam et al., 1977 and 1978) Qalyubia was the Governorate of the higher infection rate. Also at 1980, a mild atypical strain of RVF was isolated from human in Qalyubia and Assyut Governorates. A different atypical strain was also isolated from rodents in 1981. This indicates that the diseases is still in existence but in mild torm (Imam et al.., 1981b). In this study, complement fixation test was performed on 900 animal sera including sheep, cattle buffaloe, camel, goat and equine (150 samples from each species). The positive. sera were retested by the HI test. The results revealed the following: 1- Fifteen percent of the animal sera showed CB’ anti bodies at titers of 1/8 to 1/32. 2- The higher frequency of occurrence of RVF, OF anti bodies was recorded in sheep sera (35.33 ), followed by cattle (22), |
