Abstract Two field experiments were conducted at the Agricultural Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, University of El-Minia, A.R.E. during 1980-1981 and 1981-1982 seasons to study the effect of some sugar cane varieties, nitrogen fertilization levels and methods of nitrogen fertilizer application on growth yield and yield components of sugar cane . In both seasons, planting was carried out on March 15th and sugar cane was preceded by (Hordeum sp.). The experimental design was factorial experiment within split-plots with four replactes , varieties were arranged in main plot, the combination between N levels and methods of N application were arranged randomly in the sub plots.Varieties used in this experiment were N.Co.310 and G.T. 9/54 which was introduced in 1954 and cultivated till now, nitrogen was applied at four levels,viz.30,60,90 and 120 kilograms per faddan in the form of urea for plant crop, while 37.5,75,112.5 and 150 kgs nitrogen for first crop ratoon. The nitrogen fertilizer was applied at a split application of half the fertilizer after two months from planting and the rest after three months from planting for all fertilizer treatments. |
