The research examines the phenomenal stylistic devices in Ibrahim Nagy’s poetry through the structural stylistic method. This method depends on the poetic text as the most crucial point of study and it deals with it from a modern artistic point of view that reveals the poet’s world, visualizes his poetic experiment and abundantly shows the advantages of his style. This is achieved by analyzing the poetic infra-structure on the level of sound, implication, composition, metaphors and foreign & difficult words. Therefore, this research consists of an introduction and three chapters as follows:
** The introduction includes description of the thesis of the research, analysis of previous researches and identification of the method of study and examination applied in this research. Then the research starts with examining the ”vocal structure” since it is the vantage point of poetry in comparison with other forms of art; it actually provides poetq with specialty of construction. This chapter deals with:
The forms of Metres and Rhymes
Internal Music (the stuffed music): Repetition ( repetition of sound, repetition of words), Homogeneity, Vertical and Horizontal breaks/ cuttings.
Other Vocal Characteristics:
Internal Rhyme (matching ending oflines), Circulation, inclusion,
Syllabic Verse, quadriviums , Ballads etc.
The second chapter deals with :
The poetic Lexicon : it explores the following demonstrated elements : (The Element of Nature which includes water, fire, air, dust, The Element of Voice & silence, The Element of Creation, The Element of Death, The element of Meeting and Desertion, The Element of Senses, The Element of Pain and Ache, The Element of Anxiety and Loss, The Element of Time, The Element of Beauty, The Element of Element of Religious Words, The Element of Medicine, The Element of Colour, The Element of land, The Element of Birds & Animals & Insects, The Element of Plant, The Element of Reading & Writing, The Element of Registration, The Element of Dream, The Element of Returning, The element of Remembering & Forgetting, The Element of Astronomy, The Element of Patience, The Element of Scarcity in Feelings, The Element of Mass Communication, The Element of Unity.)
The Third Chapter deals with:
The Poetic Image : Similes and Metaphors since they are the two main and dominant
tools on the role of Synecdoche in Nagy’s Poetry as part of studying the relation between
the two components in an analogy (the compared and the compared with) and the two
components of the metaphor (the described by and the described from).
Then he examines the Poetic Image as Symbolic : It is the recurrent image in his poetic
pieces; it acquires a symbolic meaning for being recurrent. The chapter exposes the
following symbols: The Butterfly, The Baby, The Star, The Fire and The Water.
