Abstract The last decade has seen a proliferation of internal fixation devices to be used for the treatment of tauma or degenerative diseases of the cervical spine. Although the benefits of spinal implants are well known, one must not lose sight of the fact that they are adjuvants to fusion, not a substitute for fusion. Any cervical implants will ultimately fail if a quality fusion is not obtained. |
