المستخلص N octurnal enuresis is a common pediatric problem that can be troubling for many children and their families because of the embarrassment it produces for children when they reach school age. Urologists are constantly looking for alternatives to daily medications to avoid their side effects. Acupuncture exerts a strong antienuretic effect via different mechanisms. Acupuncture provides a promising alternative to conventional therapies for patients with primary nocturnal enuresis and appears to have a higher success rate, a lower relapse rate and is safe. The current study was designed to investigate the effects of acupuncture in treating patients suffering from PNE, most of them with past history of failure of oral medications. The study comprised 25 primary nocturnal enuretic outpatients (17 boys, 68%) and (8 girls, 32%). Their mean age was 10.9 ± 2.7 years. |
