Abstract

This study was done To test the hypothesis that LH level could be discriminating marker between responder and non responder to LOD in cc resistant PCOD.
Forty four women with polycystic ovarian disease were selected for this work from those attending the infertility clinic of Ain Shams University Hospital . treated by laparoscopic ovarian drilling.
All those women were infertile due to anovulation ( as a result of poly cystic ovarian disease) ,other factors of infertility were excluded.
All cases had failed to respond to clomiphene citrate 200 mg/day/5 days for 6 successive cycles.
The diagnosis of polycystic ovarian disease in them was based on clinical, endocrinological, sonographic and laparoscopic documentation.
Before ovarian drilling, the mean serum levels of LH/FSH ratio were elevated while the serum FSH was normal or low .
The laparoscopic procedure was performed by triple puncture technique in all cases, using a probe of endocoagulation at temperature 100 C. The probe was passed against the ovarian antimesenteric surface of the ovary after grasping the ovarian ligament with a traumatic grasping forceps.
The number of coagulation points ranged from 4-6 punctures for each ovary according to the size of the ovary. The ovary cooled by washing with lactated solution.
