Abstract

purity water is required for high pressure, steam generating systems, while relatively high concentrations of impurities can be tolerated in water used for open recirculating cooling systems. About 93 of industrial water are used for cooling or condensing purposes, and somewhat less than 2 was used as boiler feed water, the thermal electric plants forms 87 form the total consumption needs for industrial water. The consumption of industrial water in Egypt till 2017 are 6.6 billion m3. The demand of electrical energy in Egypt has increased largely during the past few years. This power is produced through a number of conventional thermal power stations as well as few hydropower stations. Thermal power plants are one of the greatest consumer of oil fuel, it was noticed that the thermal power plants are the major type of power plants in Egypt. The percentage of thermal electrical power plants to hydropower plants in Egypt is 3:1. The discharge of heated wastewater from electricity generating stations causes thermal pollution, which affects the viscosity of receiving water, and decrease the content of dissolved oxygen concentration in it. Also the abnormally high temperature may enhance an excessive development of water fungus and change the nature of invertebral fauna. The Ministry of Energy and Electricity are planning projects to increase the number of power plants which uses renewable energy like solar, wind and hydropower energies, to avoid any problems and /or environmental impacts of high oil fuel and water consumption resulted from conventional power stations. In this work a comparative study between Abu-Qir and El-Seiouf steam power plant uses different types of fuel is done to evaluate the characteristics of wastewater resulted from each of them
