Abstract An extensive investigation is carried out to study the dynamic characteristics of orthotropic ring sectorial plates, with variable stiffness in the radial direction. The plates are assumed to be simply supported alonQ the radial edges. Four Qltferent combination~ of boundary conditions, at the circumfer- ential edges, are considered. Along the radial edges, the plates are assumed to be simply supported. The governing differential eQuation of free vibration, in the lateral direction is formulated in terms of the vertical deflection. The resulting equation, is a fourth order partial differential equation, with variable coefficients. This equation is reduced to a set of algebra~c equations, using the finite difference method. The solution of these equations, represent an e igen-value problem, in which, the’ e Igen-values represent .the represent the mode natural frequencies and the eigen-vectors. IShapes. Numerical re.ults are obtained for 80me typical’ ring sectorial plates, to examine the accuracy and convergence chara- cteristics of the numerical solution. |
