Abstract In the last .few yoar’S peanu.t pod rot has become widely Spread and severely destructive in El-Minya,A. R. E. Consequently , the presint studies were planned to funrnish necessary inon the disease .the obtained results can be summarized as followes: 1. the fungi associated with peanut pod rot were :Acremonium kiliense,Aspergillus flavus ,A.niger, fusarium acuminatum , F .equiseti, F.Fusarioides ,F.moniliforme,F.solani and Neocosmospora vasinfecta. Acremonium kiliense and F.usarioides are being reported from peanuts for the first time .Fusarium has not been previously recorded in A.R.E.on the host. 2.Pathogenicity tests revealed that Fusarium acuminatum,N.vasinfecta,F.fuarioides,and A.kiliense were the most destructive to pods, in the order named,inducing 84-55%infection. the latter four fungi are being reported as pathogenic to peanut pods for the first time.Aspergillus flavus and A.niger were the most pathogenic organisms that induced perolut seedling damping-off ( 72 -84% infection). 3.Survey studies Carried out during the years 1971, 1972 and 1973 revealed that the peanut pod rot is widely spread in different localities of El-Minya governorate. |
