Abstract
The present study was carried out in Zagazig University 111 Dialysis and Nephrology Unit and Biochemistry Departments. The aim of this study to delineate the extent of problem of ochratoxin A in chronic renal failure patient and the role of ochratoxin A in cases of undetermined etiologies. This work was done of 60 subjects divided into three groups, the first was control group (20 apparently healthy subjects). The second was 20 patients of chronic renal failure of unkn’own etiology and the third was 20 patients of chronic renal failure of different etiologies, all patients were subjected to full clinical examination, laboratory investigations, renal ultrasound, 24 h0urs urinary protein was done to differentiate the degree of proteinuria in the two groups of renal failure. Renal biopsy was taken whenever possible 11”’ diagnose cases of chronic tubulointerstitial nephritis. All cases were examined for ochratoxin A in serum on first admission to the hospital and after 6 months duration by high performance liquid chromatography.
