Abstract

SUMMARY
The experiments and bioassay tests were performed in the laboratories of Plant Protect. Dept., Fac. Agric., Saba Pacha, Alex. Univ., throughout the extending period from August 2000 up to June 2003. The included results in this dissertation are devoted to throw more lights on the efficiency of certain formulations of three insect growth inhibitors (IGIs); namely: Lufenuron, Flufenoxuron and Chlorfluazuron against the cotton leafworm Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.). The rather lowered concentrations of Lufenuron, Flufenoxuron and Chlorfluazuron (0.1, 0.003, 0.02 ppm, respectively) were determined and ranked as the least efficient minimized doses for measuring the delayed latent effect of the tested IGIs on the fitness components and reproductivity of this insect-pest; besides other inspected biophysiological parameters of the treated larvae throughout six following generations.
These estimated biophysiological parameters for each tested IGI are: the cuticle dry weight, cuticular chitin and protein content to elucidate their efficiency on chitin synthesis in the alive larvae post treatment; the weight of surviving larvae and pupae, the total haemolymph protein and fats and the level of GOT and GPT enzymes, besides the number and fertility of deposited eggs by emerged moths. The obtained results could be summarized as follow:
1. Efficiency of evaluated insect growth inhibitors (IGIs) upon the 4th larval instar of the cotton leafworm:
 Chlorfluazuron achieved superior toxic efficacy overall the other tested IGIs. The calculated LC50 values of bioassayed Lufenuron, Flufenoxuron and Chlorfluazuron were 1.56, 0.88 and 0.27 ppm, respectively, after 72 hours from treatment.
