Abstract
The present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness ofa single preoperative dose of decadron (dexamethasone 8odiuin phosphate) injection irs the inasseter muscle on post-operative sequelae of the surgical extraction of the ispacteci wisdom teeth “Swelling, Irismus and pain”.
Patients were selected with more or less identical bilateral impacted mandibular third molars. Each patient ::rved as his own control as the teeth were removed iii two sittings
1Group I (control group): Odentectomy was performed on the
impacted wisdom located in the left side wtLhon injection of dexamethason sodium phosphate.
Group 11 (study group): Odentectomy was performed on Ilie
right impactd wisdom with preoperative (1 cc.)
dexamethasone sodium phosphate injected in the niasseler muscle -
The linear measurement of swelling and maximum mouth opening of the patients were measured pre—operatively and on first, second and seventh day post—operatively.
