Abstract
Human kidney transplantation has progressed from an experimental therapy to a therapeutic endeavor that can rehabilitate patients with end stage renal disease. The previous results in both graft and patient survival after living related—donor transplantation as currently practiced clearly indicate that this form of treatment must be considered the “gold standard” of replacement therapy.
