Abstract I. The literature concerning the history of rodents,their medical importance and their ectoparasites particularly in Egypt was reviewed. H. The aim and scope of the work were given. III. Materials and methods were given with references to the keys used for identification of both rodents and their ectoparasites. IV. The results showed that 1. The rodents were prevalent all the year round in Menofiya Governorate. 2. The number of rodents collected was 120 3. Three species of rodents were collected and identified as, R. rattus, R. norvegicus and M. musculus. The most common rat was R. rattus 45% and the least was M. musculus 24-2% 4. The maximum number of rodents were collected in Spring and the minimal number was in winter. 5. The ectoparasites collected were divided into a) Fleas X. cheopis, X. ramesis, P. irritans, L. segnis, C. felis and E. gallinacea. |
