Abstract Non pituitary sellar and parasellar tumours constituted an important clinical group rather than a specific patho— logic entity so that in every four patients with intracranial tumours one will have his tumour situated in the sellar and parasellar area. ‘they are important for all physicians, ophthalmologists, neurologists, as well as the neurosurgeons sine their presentations may be either headache, visual failure, endocrinologic or mental upset or various neurological deficits Age and sex were oi help in the diagnosis in patients with meningiomas where about seventy five per cent of our cases were females between 35—60 years; Headache was oi no value in predicting a specific pathology except in patients with third ventricle tumours where the paroxysmal headache was present in two of them In some cases it was misinterpretted as psychogenic headache and treated by tranquilizers and analgesics br variable periods, in the other cases it made the paiients o as more uhan one advice till heir proper uiagnosis was made at one of these ocaisions. Visual manifestations were the most important guide to diagnosis. |
