Abstract
The material of this study included 20 patients with schistosomal hepatic fibrosis and manifestations of portal hypertension in the form of hepatosplenomegaly in all cases and history of haematemesis in 10 cases. Ten patients with normal livers subjected to exploratory laparotomy for different indications served as control cases. All patients were examined clinically and intraoperatively .
