Abstract Some factors are known to affect foetal birth weight; maternal, foetal, environmental and placental factors. A prospective study was made to evaluate the effect of some of these factors on the birth weight of the foetus. A total of 220 pregnant women were followed up from the 32nd week of gestation to full term. They were subjected to the following : 1. Full history taking. 2. Medical & obstetrical examination. 3. Laboratory studies. 4. Weight measurements, regularly during the antenatal period and height measurement. 5. Recording the infant’s data after delivery. 6. Examination of the placenta both grossly and microscopically. |
