Abstract The objective of this study is to develop a computer software package for designing of sewerage systems. The study shows how to obtain the minimum cost design for a sewer network which satisfies demand flows and design criteria. A discussion of the different methods available for the design of sewerage system using different formulas and equations is given. Also, is given a discussion of different optimization methods which can be used for the optimization of sewer networks. The software package is built on linear programming model with iterative approach to linearization of the objective function. The advantages and disadvantages of this method are discussed. An application to real life problem is also given. The problem consists of 6-link sewer system which is taken from real sewer network in Heliopolis region in Egypt. |
