Abstract

Based on the result of this study to find the best and most suitable conditions of oxidation time, pH and temperature affecting the production of ferric oxide pigment obtained from the spent pickling liquor of iron with hydrochloric acid; the following conclusion are drawn,
EFFECT OF OXIDATION TIME : The effect of oxidation time of the spent pickling liquor with different oxidation time (6,8 and 10 hours) is mostly the same, (Tables and figures 18 - 21),
EFFECT OF pH: This parameter gives two readings
(a) The % reflectance of the pigment obtained decreases as the pH increases 111 case of using temperature 40°C and 50°C. ’
(b) The % reflectance of the pigment obtained increases as the pH increases in case of using temperature 60 and 70°C.
Generally the highest % reflectance of the ferric oxide pigment is at pH=1.5 and pH = 3, (Tables and figures 22- 25)
