Abstract Recent research on rhetoric and foreign language composition has emphasized the significance of investigating cross-linguistic and cross-cultural differences in rhetorical conventions. researchers have been increasingly concerned with exploring discourse variation across languages as well as comparing the writings of the native and non-native speakers of the same language. these contras tive rhetoric studies are important for several resons. they help in cagieving better understanding of the rhetorical conventions in various languages. they also help in gaining insight into some of the student problems in foreign language composition. |
