Abstract

Twenty-one buffalo suckling calves again from one to 4 days old , the mean initial live body weight (LBW) for calves of the different treatments were 42 ,43 , 41 , 40.3 , 44 , 43.3 , and 41kg for T1 ,T2 ,T3, T4, T5, T6 , and T7, respectively . The animals were divided into 7 similar groups of three animals each, according to their birth weight, each treatment was assigned randomly to one of seven dietary treatments. T1 was fed according to the feeding regime of the station farm, where calves were artificially fed 10% of their live body weight on buffalo milk divided into twice daily, plus calf starter contain 17 % CP ( the control treatment ), T2 and T3 were fed as T1 replacing 35% and 70% of soybean meal (SBM) by Nigella sativa meal (NSM) ,respectively . T4 and T5 were fed as T1 replacing 35% and 70% of soybean meal by sesame meal (SM), respectively. T6 and T7 were fed as T1 replacing 35% and 70% of soybean meal by canola seed meal (CM), respectively. The experimental lasted tell weaning. Results in suckling period indicated insignificant effect (P<0.05) due to the difference sources of protein in the experimental starters on feed intake, average daily gain and feed conversion. Regarding to blood serum parameters insignificant differences were observed due to effect of experimental starter on total protein , albumin, globulin, albumin :globulin ratio, urea, Glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT) and
Glutamic pyruvic transaminase (GPT) .Also, Post weaning period
,the data indicated insignificant differences among the different experimental treatments in total dray matter intake but T7 fed canola meal 70% had the highest (DMI) value ,while the lowest DMI value recorded with the T5 fed SM 70% . The highest TDNI value was shown for T7 fed CM (70%) , while the lowest was recorded for T5 fed 70% (SM) . DCP intake achieved the highest value with T1 ( control) and the lowest was recorded for T5 fed ( SM )70% .
Rumen PH concentration data showed that there were insignificant effects among all treatments on the rumen pH at the different sampling times . Ammonia nitrogen concentrations of the different experimental treatments showed that ruminal ammonia –N values ranged from 12.75 mg/100ml to 20.16 at different times . TVFA’s concentration in the rumen liquor of calves fed the experimental treatments ranged from 7.13 meq/100ml to 11.29meq/ 100ml at different sampling times
Blood parameters indicated that blood serum protein had no significant differences among all treatments .Data serum albumins and globulins had no significant differences among the different experimental treatments Also, AIT and AST were no significantly among all the different experimental treatments .
The data of DM digestibility indicated that the higher values were recorded for T1 followed by T3 ,T7 T6 and then T2 . while the lower values were recorded for T5 and then T4 . The highest OM digestibility was recorded for T7 while the lowest one was detected forT5 Insignificant differences were shown for CP, EE and NFE digestibility amang the different experimental treatments
Values of ADG for the different experimental treatments ranged from 703g to 767 g / d/h .
