المستخلص This study will be performed on mature male and female albino rats to determined the effect of C.c.c. venom on pituitary gonadal axis through measurement of the hormonal level change of FSH, LH, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol and thyroxin in sera and gland tissues after intraperitoneal injection of the experimental animals by sublethal doses (1/50, 1/20 and 1/10 LD50) of C.c.c. venom. Also some other parameters were measured to asses our conclusion such as serum and tissue level changes of protein, cholesterol, lipids and hepatic enzymes (ALT and AST). The experimental animals were be divided into 4 groups each one contain (5 males and 5 females). The 1st one used as control and the 2nd , 3rd and 4th group were injected intraperitoneally by (1/50, 1/20 and 1/10 LD50) of C.c.c. venom respectively, day after day for one month. The result showed that intraperitoneal injection of C.c.c. venom in albino rats produced significant decrease in FSH, LH, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and thyroxin in serum and tissues of pituitary, gonads, adrenal and thyroid gland of male and female albino rats. This decrease was gradually with respect to the used doses 1/50, 1/20 and 1/10 LD50) respectively. On the other hand the results showed gradual increase in cortisol hormone in serum and in thyroid tissue also gradual rise appear in total lipids and in serum hepatic enzymes (ALT and AST) and serum total protein, while the tissue protein, cholesterol and ALT, AST in tissue showed gradual decrease. These results may be due to the toxic effects of C.c.c. venom on cells and cell organelles. The cytotoxins from venom caused mitochondrial deformation followed by cytoplasmic vaculisation and increase lysosomal vacules, thus affect on the cell activity and cell functions. |
