Abstract

The main aim of this research is the study of various types of fuel, which are used in marine field for different types of marine engines with high, and small power. In addition a study of the purification, clarification and treatment systems of heavier types of fuels and their effects on marine Diesel engine performance is carried out. The research, also, explains the possibility of using new types. of fuel ’ (renewable’ energy, coal, natural gas,
hydrogen etc) and displays the researches and experiments, by using thermodynamic analysis for marine Diesel engine at different loads and different types of fuel. The, study, also, discusses the different ways to improve fuel system in order to minimize specific fuel consumption.
The research evaluates the performance of marine Diesel engine when using different types of fuel at full and part loads. Experimental research is underway to apply to the use of hydrogen, as a fuel in the marine field, but the difficulties of using it is appeared for its storing conditions. Hydrogen storing ,conditions need pressures between 200 and to 700 bars in its gaseous state and need (-252.7°C) in its liquid state.
