Abstract

One of the major interests of research in the last l\\o decades . uas to find sets of codes \\ith optimum correlation properties and to exploit their advantages in different applications M-sequences. Gold code and Kasami codes \\ere the most popular due lo then correlation properties \\hich are close to that of optimum codes Several other code sets \\itli enhanced correlation properties such as \Velii and complementary code sets \\ere also proposed.
In this thesis, our main-objective is lo investigate the propemes and applications of the optimum code sets, and lo extend those.1 coiLvs into t\vo dimensional arrays and to profit from their extended properties in :: wider range of applications Various arrax construction methods have been investigated, we focused on these technique that extend one dimensional code into two dimensional arrays with the same desired correlation properties The applications of one and t\vo dimensional code sets with optimum correlation properties to different applications in multimedia communications are discussed in this thesis.
The mam considered application is image watermarking due to the developed request of such applications in various user authentication and copy/right protection criteria First, a novel twin image watermarking algorithm (T1VVA) is presented. The proposed technique employs an encoding scheme based on complete complementary code arrays. The simulation results are provided to demonstrate the efficient performance of the proposed technique under the effect of noise and JPEG compression In addition, another technique namely the double coded embedding watermarking algorithm (DCA) adopting these arrays is discussed . the simulation results under noise and compression show a superior performance compared lo the com entional ones Finally, a watermarking technique supporting multi user is proposed namely the multi message data hiding technique . the new technique is compared to conventional arid single user technique lo investigate the effect of the MAI on the resulting performance.
